The ICPC Nanonet project was kindly invited by the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council to have a stand at the highly successful Iran Nano Festival 2010, held in Tehran from 25-29th October. The five-day event brought nano to the public and attracted more than 178 entities including institutes, universities, as well as public and private sector companies. In addition, a number of firms and representatives from Austria, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea and the UK also took part in the Festival.
In one hall, twelve different industrial sectors demonstrated the latest in nano innovation, including water and environment, petroleum, textiles, agriculture and packaging, building, automobile manufacturing, international countries zone, technology services, laboratory equipment, commerce, health and hygiene, and raw materials. Another exhibition hall accommodated various stands for laboratories, universities and research centres, technology parks, and nanotechnology promotion institutes. The Nano Club – an exhibition dedicated solely to the education of young students – provided the opportunity for youngsters to observe nano experiments as well as test games such as Nanopoly, construct buckyballs and admire the artwork of the entrants in the Nano Art competition. The ICPC Nanonet stand attracted enormous interest from students and researchers keen to participate in the online workshops and eager to access the articles in the Nano Archive. DVDs of the Prague workshop 2009 were given out on request. Two presentations were given. The first was delivered at the start of an official dinner attended by the Vice President for Science and Technology, Nasrin Soltankhah, while the second was delivered to an exhibition audience. Through raising the profile of the project, more Iranian researchers will have wider access to published research in the Nano Archive and more networking and collaboration opportunities. |
